Valle de Bujaruelo

Biosphere Reserve

Likewise, although not part of the National Park include Bujaruelo Valley in the west. Less well known than Ordesa has nothing to envy. This valley is open and spacious, and in it the Ara River rises. Worth knowing.

It is accessed along the access road to Valle de Ordesa: on the bridge of Los Navarros, taking the track off to the left you can reach the meadow of San Nicolas de Bujaruelo.

From here you can make excursions by four valleys:

  • Otal Valley
  • Ordiso Valley (waterfalls and suspension bridge)
  • Sandaruelo Valley (gabarnie and bernatuara)
  • Ara Valley
  • Highlights include the massif Tendeñera and Vignemale.

And on the French side: the Valley and Gavarnie, another impressive glacial cirque in its header has the highest waterfall in Europe, with over 400 meters of vertical drop.
